Accommodation Services and Support
At BDMS Community Services, we offer a range of accommodation packages, from intensive at-home care to short and medium-term assistance. The following options are available:
Accommodation/Tenancy/SIL
Safe and stable accommodation is important to everyone. At BDMS Community Services, we provide a range of accommodation options, including supported independent living (SIL). This comprehensive service helps people to live independently at home for as long as possible. It includes supervision with daily tasks, including personal care, domestic cleaning, and cooking meals. SIL is designed for people with higher support needs, which often includes people living with a disability.
If you or someone you know requires home support at all times, we are here to help. SIL packages provide assistance throughout the day and night, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This level of support is available to people who live with other NDIS participants, and it’s also available to those who live alone. However, other support packages may be preferred when people are living alone. It’s important to note that SIL funding can’t be used for rent or day-to-day living expenses.
Short-Term Accommodation/STA/Respite
If you or someone you know has immediate housing needs, short-term accommodation support is available from BDMS Community Services. Our short-term accommodation package, including respite, describes funding for support and accommodation services delivered away from home.
This service covers costs for up to 14 days at a time, including situations where people are living alone or with others. Funding for short-term accommodation is provided when regular carers aren’t available, and it can also be used to trial new support services. At BDMS Community Services, we fund a variety of short-term accommodation options.
Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) and Assistance
For example, an MTA package provides temporary accommodation for people who have been discharged from the hospital. Typically, MTA is available for periods up to 90 days. At BDMS Community Services, we provide safe accommodation, professional support, and personal activities through our dedicated MTA facility.
